Vedic astrology, or Jyotish (Sanskrit for "science of light"), is the traditional astrology of India. It is counted among the six Vedangas — the auxiliary sciences of the Vedas — and has been practised for thousands of years. It reads the same sky as Western astrology, but it measures it differently, and it puts the Moon, not the Sun, at the centre of your personal chart.

Find my Moon sign →1. The sidereal zodiac. Western astrology uses the tropical zodiac, tied to the seasons. Jyotish uses the sidereal zodiac, tied to the actual stars. Over the centuries the two have drifted apart by about 24°, so most people find that their Vedic sign is one sign earlier than their Western one.
2. The Moon sign comes first. In Jyotish, your Moon sign (Rashi) describes your mind, emotions and how you experience life. Monthly forecasts are traditionally read from the Moon sign, which is why my forecasts are made for Moon signs, not Sun signs.
3. Nakshatras. Besides the 12 signs, the sky is divided into 27 lunar mansions — nakshatras. The nakshatra your Moon was in at birth adds a finer layer to your Moon sign.
My readings and forecasts follow classical Jyotish — the traditional rules of the old texts, without modern additions.
